A EuroMillion Ticket price increase is set to occur in September 2016. This will raise the price of lottery tickets to £2.50. The increase is predictably been blasted as “greedy” by broadsheets, plus all and sundry.
Cynical Lottery Ticket Price Increase ?
It certainly reeks of it to be fair, but then why would Camelot not use every advantage it possesses.
Camelot has obviously noted more lottery players are now playing the National Lottery game, this came about after a price increase on the virtually dead lottery game.
Despite fierce criticism, Camelot moved ahead and implemented the price change. Lottery players responded with fury, then kept buying lottery tickets in the hope of a win. Jackpot prizes increased significantly, so did rollovers, Camelot made a killing. Did we forget to add that they made winning a lottery more difficult by adding another number to the game.
What Camelot are doing is no different to anything any large UK Bookmaker would not do, if given an opportunity. Lottery is a cash cow, the more it makes, the more funds in the public purse.
EuroMillion Lottery Scratch Cards
A part of Camelot’s gambling operation rarely highlighted, are online scratch card games.
Players can play instant jackpot scratch games. These do sometimes pay a nice prize or two. Have you read the theory of how to win on scratch cards. Neither have I.
We are interested in how this EuroMillions price increase will affect prize levels and lottery player activity. We look forward to the lead up to September, when it is set to take place.
In the interim – the serious business of EuroMillion Jackpots. Last nights draw was yet another rollover. The prize pool is now at £51 Million.
That is the image Camelot want to leave you with.
More prize levels in return for more of your money. That strategy seems to have worked well on both the UK & Irish versions of EuroMillions.
