A Maine Lottery player has won an astounding $1.35bn Mega Millions jackpot after matching all six numbers – the second-largest jackpot in the game’s history. On January 13, the single ticket with the winning numbers – 30, 43, 45, 46, 61 and the gold Mega Ball 14 – was sold at Hometown Gas & Grill in Lebanon, Maine. This is the fourth billion-dollar jackpot in Mega Millions history.

Single Ticket Billion Dollar Lotto Win
Fourteen lottery tickets won the second-tier prize of $1 million by matching all five white balls. The winning tickets were sold in New York (four), California (two), and one ticket each in Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Pat McDonald, the Ohio Lottery director and lead director for the Mega Millions Consortium, congratulated the Maine State Lottery on their billion-dollar Mega Millions jackpot win – their first ever, stating that this marked the fourth time in Mega Millions history that a billion-dollar prize has been won.
The jackpot had been increasing since it was won on October 14, resulting in a $502m prize being split between two winning tickets in California and Florida. The prize money for the Tuesday, January 17 lottery will reset to its starting point of 20 million dollars, with 10.7 million dollars in cash.
The biggest ever Mega Millions lottery jackpot of $1.537bn was won by a single ticket in South Carolina in October 2018. This is the second Billion Dollar USA Lottery jackpot we have been reporting on recently. The last win was on the Powerball Lottery for over $2 Billion in prize money.
It is worth noting that this is the total value, not the final amount paid out. The reason for this is that both Mega Millions and Powerball are annuity-type lotteries. That means the final cash value will be for a lesser amount than the headline figure.
