We recently wrote an article re a town in Wales that has been battling to get its Lottery Machine reinstated. We are happy to report back on that particular issue now. According to reports Camelot who runs the EuroMillion Lottery in the UK has sent in a secret shopper to view the newsagent where the proposed machine is to be located.
This happy news is the culmination of a media campaign by residents and national media in an effort to get Camelot to simply take a look at the newsagent in Caerwys. The newsagent had previously described his frustration at being ignored by Camelot and following this media campaign it seems that they have listened to the public.
The Secret Shopper was sent to the newsagent to rate the shop on 40 separate criteria which it apparently passed with flying colours. The town has now made a shortlist of lottery machine locations which is apparently decided upon each month by Camelot in a Lottery locations meeting.
It does seem rather weird that a company has to have a meeting re Lottery Machine locations. Surely the Lottery is about the community, there should be a lottery machine available in each community. We know that lottery players are able to purchase online lottery tickets, but some players still prefer paper to convenience. Even though we are advocates for purchasing Lottery Tickets online, we still believe that each and every single community should have access to a machine.
We hope to be reporting back on the Lottery Machine situation in Caerwys in the near future with the news that the town has been granted a new Lottery machine. In the interim there is always the massive £157 Million EuroMillion Lottery jackpot to play for.
