The world has another paying lottery. According to reports in the UK media – The Health Lottery has recently payed out to a UK nurse to the tune of £100k when she discovered she had a winning ticket. It did take a call from her husband to check the ticket though, so he should be entitled to the cash we think.

The Health Lottery is another one of the lotteries that seems to be springng up. It says on its website that it supports good causes and it manages 51 seperate society lotteries.  There is however quite a lot of controversy surrounding the Health Lottery, this is mainly due to the proportion of funds that these good causes receive from the Lottery.

According to reports there are already 3 seperate investigations into this lottery after complaints were made. A comment made by a Health Lottery spokesperson has indicated that the Health Lottery has not had a detrimental affect on sales of the National Lottery and that data available indicated that sales had increased.

From looking at the Health Lottery site it seems that only 20 pence in every pound goes towards local health related good causes. If this is proving to be detrimental to the National Lottery , can Camelot advise how so, and how much it funds Health causes around the United Kingdom by.
