40m UK EuroMillions Lottery Winner

The EuroMillions lottery has finally been won after rolling over three times and according to Camelot, it has been won by a UK lottery ticket holder. The jackpot was won on Friday night, 20th January for a massive £40,627,241.

The winning main EuroMillions numbers were 2, 10, 22, 27 and 28 with the Lucky Star numbers were 06 and 08. The £40 million win is the biggest win of the year and the seventh biggest ever win in the UK. The record belongs to Scottish couple Colin and Chris Weir who won £161 million in July.

A Camelot spokesman said: ‘This is fantastic news – we’re absolutely delighted to have yet another huge EuroMillions win here in the UK. We have plenty of champagne on ice and look forward to welcoming the lucky ticketholder into The National Lottery millionaires’ club.’

At the moment, the identity of the winner remains undisclosed. The spokesman continued, “We are looking forward to welcoming the lucky ticketholder to our millionaires’ club, which is already over 2,800 strong.”

“EuroMillions players in the UK continue to contribute to the massive £27 billion raised for National Lottery Good Causes. This latest win continues the nation’s amazing run of luck with big EuroMillions winners,” he said.

UK lottery players have had fantastic strokes of luck in the last few years and before the Wiers, Dave and Angela Dawes won £101milliion in October 2011, an anonymous lottery player won £84 million in May 2011 and Nigel Page and Justine Laycock won £56 million in February 2010.

The jackpot for the Euro Millions lottery has been reset and is now worth £12 million for tomorrow’s jackpot. Tickets are priced at £2 per line of numbers and can be purchased at retail stores or online by creating an account with the UK National Lottery.
