208M Mega Millions Mystery Winner Claims Prize
The winner of the Mega Millions $208m lottery jackpot has finally come forward to claim their prize. Financial analyst Daniel Bruckner, 35, and his wife, Christine, 36 won the lottery during their holidays in Middle Island on 27th December.
The winning US lottery ticket with numbers 23, 32, 33, 39, 43 and mega-ball 8, was bought at the King Kullen Supermarket in Middle Island but the Bruckners took their time to come forward.
Daniel had been picking up groceries for dinner at the supermarket when he noticed the Mega Millions jackpot and on a whim decided to purchase $26 worth of Quick Pick tickets before heading home.
He discovered the fantastic win the following day but it took a while for the information to sink in. He said, “The numbers just lined up but it didn’t seem real.” The couple returned to their home in California, stashed their ticket in a safe deposit box and went about their lives.
They managed to keep their secret for three weeks; “It’s been very hard for me because I’m around my friends and family, and they’re all talking about it because it’s the big buzz, and I couldn’t say anything,” said Christine.
When asked about their plans to spend their life changing prize, Daniel said, “The goal is just trying to be true to who you are, and hopefully you can stay the people who you were before.” The win however will help them wipe out financial obligations like student loans, a mortgage and other debts. After taxes, the Bruckner will take home a massive $101,440,236.
The Mega Millions lottery is the biggest jackpot game in the US with jackpots that seed at $12 million. Players can win a range of smaller prizes from $2 up to $250,000 with the lottery game that is priced at a mere $1 per line of numbers every Tuesday and Friday.
